Sing a Song of Sixpense

Hello and Welcome!
This post is going to be sweet, short, and to the point. Last week we had what I like to call, Acaweek. You see, being in Chamber Choir at school, I am also in the girl's Acapella group, The Do-Re-Migas. We also have a guys Acapella group and they are simply called, The Acafellas. Well we teamed up with some of the other local colleges and had a concert called Acafest. We did it to raise money for a local charity backpack program and raised A LOT of stuff for it. Not to mention it was a blast. I don't think I have ever had so much fun in all of my life. But, needless to say between trying to ballance drama (with performance night and Reader's Theatre coming up) and this Acafest I had NO time to work out last week. I got an hour and half work out in on Saturday, but I soon grew sick and had to stop. So now I am sitting here blogging with a stuffed up nose and what I think is bronchitis. So needless to say, I am not working out today, either. Hopefully I will get a good workout in on Wednesday and I can get some recipes and tips posted soon.

Let's Get This Party Started!

Okay gang!
So this is my first post to really start my progress. My first workout was Thursday night. I got a good two hour workout in. Since I haven't done this in a while, I started to get shin splints in my left leg which prevented me from being on the tredmill for as long as I would have liked. Hopefully next workout I can stay away from that with a little Ibuprofen. I have been doing really well with my diet (I call it a diet, but its really just eating healthy) until today. My breakfast was fairly healthy, just some grits and a yogurt, but then I had Huhot for lunch and then a hot chocolate and chocolate bread tonight with my friend. Oh well, I guess I will have to work that off Monday. Normally I work out all days of the week except Tuesdays (because I have church) and the weekend. But this Friday I was not able to get my workout in. Hopefully this week I can get in some good workouts in.
So, back to my progress. Right now, I am 163lbs and my measurements are 38-31-42. These are my goals (I know some of them may be far fetched, but hey, maybe I will reach them, you never know): I want to be 140-145lbs depending on how much muscle mass I gain. I want my measurements to be 35-25-38. I am totally cool if I lose more than that, but I feel that is good to start with. I plan on drinking about 4 full water bottles daily and working out 2 hours on the four days that I do work out. I want to gain muscle, gain flexibility and balance. I want to start giving my body the sleep it needs and feed it good, healthy foods. Which also means that I need to start cooking again. So, without further ado, the before pics:

The Start of Something New

Hello one and all!
My name is Tori and I have decided to embark on something that most people find very daunting. Being healthy. Now you are thinking to yourself, well, thats not that hard. But in fact, my dear friends, it is. Being healthy is somethng that you have to whole-heartedly commit to. And it is not easy. In todays world, most of what is given to us is crap. I dont want to eat crap. So, I am going to try my best to A) lose weight, B) get in shape, and C) Treat my body right. Now, this isn't the first time I have attempted this. Last year about this time I did the very same thing. My starting weight was 165lbs and I dropped myself to 152lbs. Thats thirteen pounds and I was pretty proud of myself for that! But then summer came and my life got super hectic and I just didn't have time to work out anymore. So then I stopped eating healthy and things just slowly started going downhill from there. Now, I'm back up to 163lbs and I am more determined than ever to reach my goal! So perhaps before I post the goals I will tell you a little about myself. I am a senior this year and I haven't quite decided if I am ready to graduate or not. I love to read, write, and hang out with my friends and family. I am one of those nerds that likes the stuff like Harry Potter and Star Trek. However, my biggest interest is Lord of the Rings. I adore it. Most of my life revolves around Choir and Theatre at my highschool. If I am not performing something for one, I'm performing something for the other.  After highschool I plan to go to Nursing School. I am also very involved with my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  There is so much more to me but that at least scratches the surface. I plan to track my progress of my healthy adventure in this blog as well as sharing with you some tips about working out or eating healthy and some healthy recipes for you to try that I have really enjoyed. And you may even get some side adventures about my life if you are lucky. Well, thanks for reading and I hope you continue to follow me through this adventure of trying to change my lifestyle to a healthy one.
